This is a letter of recommendation for Tom Kerkman of New e-Business.

This is a letter of recommendation for Tom Kerkman. When I first conceived of a new type of web-based software that blended aspects of data warehousing, analysis, dashboarding, goal setting and personnel management, I knew I would need someone unique. I needed a talented developer, but I would also need someone who could function as a consultant and software architect. We were fortunate to find Tom Kerkman to fill those roles. The software that we designed together and Tom developed has met and even exceeded the original design concept. Additionally, Tom set up several databases, two test programming environments and assisted with several related network projects.

When working with an outside developer there is always a concern that the project will fail, or the project drags on unnecessarily at great expense. As Tom and I began to discuss the overall vision my intention was to press forward quickly to development, but I was immediately set at ease by Tom's approach. He was willing to consider alternative points of view, and willing to admit what he did not know. I would rather work with someone with an open mind who can solve problems than someone who thinks they know all the answers and sees all problems as needing their own pre-conceived solutions. Furthermore, throughout the project Tom has continued to internalize my deadlines and press for delivery of key milestones, putting in some long hours during crunch times, and obsessing over details with pride of ownership. Consequently I quickly came to trust his opinion and his work ethic.

The software project we developed has the potential to revolutionize our culture. This is directly related to how germane the final application is to the original vision. I credit a large part of this success to Tom's skill in development, to listening, and to his commitment to delivery of that dream.

My expectations are high. Tom has met those expectations. I intend to continue my relationship with Tom. I wholeheartedly endorse him, especially if he is used as more than just programming talent – although I endorse him for that purpose as well.
